Architecting a High-Speed Workflow for a Global Streaming Hit
Client: Amazon Prime Video (via Single Frame)
Project: Reacher: EMEA Localisation & Versioning
The Challenge
When a specialist animation and VFX studio like Single Frame wins a major account like Amazon Prime Video, it's a huge success. However, new opportunities often bring new operational challenges. While the agency was expertly handling brand work for the flagship show Reacher, including bus and metro branding, 3D animation and projection mapping, they faced a critical bottleneck on a high-volume localisation job for 12 different countries in the EMEA region.
Their bespoke, craft-focused pipeline, perfect for high-end animation, was not designed for the sheer speed and volume required for mass versioning. With the premiere date looming, a new solution was needed, fast.
The Work
To solve this, we had to architect a new workflow from the ground up. The new, streamlined workflow was built on the principle of "Lego blocks."
The approach was to deconstruct all master assets, including trailers, social clips, and title cards, into their core, foundational elements. These building blocks were then organised into a highly efficient, modular system. This allowed for the rapid and consistent re-assembly of assets, localised for each of the 12 markets. The process was shifted away from a complex VFX pipeline and towards a system built for the demands of high-speed versioning, while ensuring every asset met the strict compliance standards for a range of formats, including Clearcast in the UK, Adtoox, social media, and broadcast regulations across Belgium, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Germany.
The Impact
The implementation of this new workflow had an immediate and dramatic effect, increasing the daily output of localised versions by nearly 1000%. This surge in efficiency completely broke the bottleneck, enabling the studio to successfully deliver all campaign assets across the entire EMEA region ahead of the show's premiere.
The project not only saved a critical campaign but also provided the agency with a powerful new workflow for future high-volume projects, proving that the right process is just as vital as the creative itself.
